Research has shown that LGBTQ2SIA+ people face challenges in receiving culturally appropriate healthcare, making them less likely to see a doctor or health provider than other segments of the population — and that leads to poorer health outcomes.
The South Island Division is committed to helping build primary care providers’ awareness of the health concerns and issues facing the LGBTQ2SIA+ communities. Our goal is to help health professionals provide culturally competent care.
