Salt Spring Island PCN

Jun 4, 2025

In fall 2024, Salt Spring Island achieved a key milestone with the allocation of funding for 11 full-time equivalent positions to enhance Primary Health Care services on the island. This investment supports the work of the South Island Division of Family Practice (SIDFP) and the Primary Care Network (PCN) in addressing local health care needs.

Key initiatives of the Salt Spring Island PCN include:

• Launch of a community-wide Health Connect Registry campaign to efficiently link unattached patients with primary care providers.

• Ongoing efforts to assist physicians with space utilization and clinic expansion, enabling the growth of care teams and services.

• Initial engagement and relationship-building with local Indigenous communities to ensure culturally safe and inclusive care that reflects the needs and voices of Indigenous Peoples.

Long-term benefits for the community include improved access to care, better support for health care providers, enhanced health outcomes and greater community resilience.

If you’d like to learn more about the Salt Spring Island PCN, or contribute your skills to making it a success, please contact the Salt Spring Island Change Lead, Sarah Bulmer, at sarah.bulmer@sidfp.com.
