Strong & Steady is a student-led fall prevention clinic led by Physiotherapy and Pharmacy students designed to help lower patients’ risk of falling, support patient independence, and encourage patient participation in community activities.
Physiotherapy students are supervised by a Registered Physiotherapist and a Physiotherapy Educator; Pharmacy students are supervised by a Registered Pharmacist.
This program is for individuals who are 65 years and older who:

Agree to work with physiotherapy students, pharmacy students and Recreation Therapists on fall prevention strategies

Live in the community (including independent living or assisted living)

Are able to attend a clinic 3 times per week for 30 – 90 minutes at a time

Have transportation to/from the clinic

Are able to follow directions, participate in and benefit from group education sessions, and a home exercise program

Are able to walk for at least 10 metres with or without a walker or can
The clinic will be held at the Westhills YMCA/YWCA in Langford between November 10 – December 18.
