Access Central – New Phone Service Connects People with Addiction Medicine and Substance Use Care

Access Central is a toll-free line that provides same-day assessment and connection to substance use care, including Addiction Medicine.  By offering a single point of access to clinical assessment, care planning, and navigation, Access Central helps reduce barriers to care and is particularly beneficial for individuals living in rural and remote communities.

Call 1-888-885-8824 daily from 9:00am to 7:30pm 

Call for:

  • Clinical assessments for Addiction Medicine and substance use care

  • Individualized care planning, including transportation coordination

  • Consult for opioid agonist treatment (OAT) and other medications

  • Assessment for withdrawal management (detox) and treatment services, including funded transportation support

  • Information and help finding the right resources

Who can call?

  • Anyone in the Island Health region can call Access Central

  • Self-referrals are accepted – no need for a primary care provider

Note for clinicians

Access Central is a direct line to service.

  • Referrals to withdrawal management will continue to be accepted through Pathways. If you cannot access Pathways, simply call Access Central, or submit the PDF referral form to amsu.accesscentral@islandhealth.ca.
