Happy Patients, Happy MOAs, Happy Physicians
What it is: A paid, physician-led working session focused on practical ways to improve patient access, reduce avoidable ER/UPCC use and support smoother clinic workflows.
Why this matters: Patients are often seeking low-acuity care through ERs or UPCCs when family practice may be the better place for care. This session will explore what is getting in the way, what is already working, and what practical tools can help clinics improve access without simply adding more work.

Presenters spotlight:
Dr. Mark Sherman, Family Physician, has worked in several team-based care and compensation models, as well as hospital based, walk-in and long-term care. He works at the Shoreline Medical Clinic, in Long Term Care facilities and at the Peninsula After Hours Clinic. Mark is the founder, and one of the senior facilitators, at the BC Association for Living Mindfully (BCALM).
Dr. Sienna Bourdon, Family Physician, provides full-service care, including hospital inpatient and long-term care. She is Medical Director of Shoreline Medical’s Brentwood clinic, President of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Medical Staff Association, and an active medical educator. She is passionate about leadership, healthcare improvement and systemic change.
