Since 2015, the Practice Ready Assessment – British Columbia program has assessed 363 family physicians in 78 communities across the province.
To date, 81 full-time family physicians have begun their Canadian practice on Vancouver Island through PRA-BC. Currently, 39 physicians are completing their three-year ROS placements, with half choosing to stay in the clinics after completion. In 2024, the ministry tripled the PRA-BC seats from 32 to 96. With two intakes each year — fall and spring, the program offers 20 placements annually, 10 per intake.
Clinic applications for the next intake (Fall 2026) are available now until January 16, 2026.
