Thank you to all members, partners and staff who joined October 9th for our AGM and SIDFP 15th Anniversary Celebration.
As the SIDFP Executive Director, I had the honour of emceeing this magical evening of recognition, celebration and connection, which opened with an amazing land acknowledgement by Brianna Bear, Songhees First Nation member, artist and Knowledge Keeper for the Nation. Thank you to Breanna for sharing her knowledge and prodigious talents with us.
During the night, we highlighted the Division’s many successes from not only the last fiscal year, but from over the past 15 years of service to our members and communities. The Division has championed primary care in the South Island in countless ways, from leading initiatives to support physician’s health to piloting funding programs to improve healthcare spaces. We have so much work to be proud of, and I am so pleased to have the opportunity to highlight it.
Every step the Division has taken has been led, supported and advocated for by the tireless members of the Board, who give their time and energy every day. The Division very literally could not do its work without the Board’s vision and determination. On that note, thank you to Dr. Randall Mason who is stepping down from the Board after years of service and leadership.
The AGM business section of the night was convened by Board Co-Chairs, Dr. Mark Sherman and Dr. Alex Kilpatrick. Thank you to them for making the least fun part of the night as fun as possible!
The night concluded with a big thank you to all who attended and to the tremendous efforts of the SIDFP Team to organize and host such an amazing event. I look forward to another exciting year championing the amazing work of our members, Board and staff.
