We are happy to welcome Karen Ryan as the new Saanich Peninsula PCN Pharmacist. Karen brings a strong clinical background with experience across both hospital and long-term care settings in British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador. She has extensive expertise in identifying and resolving drug therapy problems, conducting comprehensive medication reviews, and developing individualized patient care plans.
Karen is known for her collaborative approach and works closely with interdisciplinary teams to support safe, effective, and patient-centred care. She is also passionate about patient education and enjoys teaching both students and colleagues.
She holds a PharmD for Pharmacists from the University of Toronto, along with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) from Memorial University.
In her role with the Saanich Peninsula PCN, Karen will be supporting patients and primary care teams through medication optimization, education, and collaborative care.
Karen will begin her orientation with Antony Gagnon on April 8th and will be full time in her new role as of May 1st. Welcome, Karen!
