NP Preceptors Needed

Mar 3, 2026

Nurse Practitioner students must complete clinical practice rotations as part of their education requirements and preceptors are an essential part of this training.

In recent years, the Nurse Practitioner programs in BC have expanded and increased the number of seats available for Nurse Practitioner students. By May of 2026, it can be expected that provincial demand for over 225 NP placements will significantly increase overall demand for PCN sites across the province.

Preceptors are now eligible to receive an honorarium to recognize the work done while precepting Nurse Practitioner students. The honorarium is a lump sum and is not paid by the hour. However, it is recognized that longer placements entail more effort for the preceptor, so there is a three-tiered system:

  • Length of placement Honorarium paid:
    • Less than 40 hours $200
    • 40-150 hours $600
    • More than 150 hours $1500

If you are willing and available to supervise an NP student during their clinical placement, please complete the following survey.
