PCN Governance Changes

Aug 6, 2025

The PCN Steering Committee has gone through many changes in the past year, including receiving backbone support from the Division that includes a greater oversight role, as well as ensuring strategic alignment with Division programming. We have been working hard to develop a new nimble Steering Committee of representatives to best represent our communities and their primary care needs in a changing health care landscape.

Dr. Robin Saunders and Dr. Erik Haensel are the Steering Committee’s co-conveners, Dr. Laura Asplin has stepped into the FP member role, Dr. Paul Sawchuk is the FP member from the Health Authority and Anne Frew is the NP member. Another provider will join once the Provider Advisory Group is up and running. Rose Dumont continues in an interim basis until the newly formed South Island First Nations Primary Care Committee selects two representatives. The Community Advisory Group is not yet in formation and engagement is underway. Once they are formed, they will select a member to sit at the Committee.

The Committee continues to meet on the first Wednesday of the month. If there are PCN items that need the Steering Committee’s attention, please reach out to Tina Dickson at pcnadmin@sidfp.com for inclusion on the agenda. We wish to extend our gratitude to the many members who gave their time, energy, and skill serving on this committee in the past: thank you for all that you have offered to our community.
