Following the January 2024 announcement, the AHC pilot (previously AHCP) transitioned to an ongoing Provincial Initiative. The AHC service, however, receives multiple calls from patients in the South Island and Victoria regions whose primary care providers are not registered with the program.
We kindly ask all providers to consider registering for the AHC service to ensure we provide adequate follow-up and continued support to providers and their patients.

Q: Are physicians required to staff the AHCP service if we decide to register?
A: No, there is no requirement to staff the service or take any shifts if you chose not to.
Q: Are there any implications to signing up if I am already a part of an existing on-call group?
A: No, many physicians who are also a part of an existing call group have signed up and appreciate the additional support.
