Planetary Healthcare Lab at the Univeristy of British ColumbiaÂ
The University of British Columbia has established the Planetary Healthcare Lab to address the environmental impacts of healthcare in BC. This interdisciplinary team aims to develop solutions to reduce healthcare-related emissions, focusing on areas such as hospital food systems, unnecessary patient testing, and the medical supply chain, with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
This network unites efforts across the British Columbia health-care community to advance the system toward environmentally sustainable and resilient care for the health of people, place, and planet. Founded by the Energy and Environmental Sustainability team, GreenCare’s initiatives include work undertaken by the team, health-care and medical staff, and collaborative partnerships.Â
