Locum Connect

Locum Connect is a new service making it easier to find and offer longitudinal family physician coverage across Greater Victoria and Salt Spring Island.

By providing a centralized, easy-to-use hub that connects locum and host physicians to respective practice coverage opportunities, Locum Connect supports physician well-being, reduces administrative burden, and helps strengthen recruitment, retention, and continuity of care.

It allows local physicians to take much-needed time off, lets new grads and new-to-the-community physicians explore different clinics, and helps retiring physicians work on their own schedule.

Locums

Please complete the locum enrolment form. We will then get in touch to set up an orientation and give you access to our scheduling platform to view and accept work.

Family Physicians Seeking Coverage (hosts):

Please complete the host enrolment form which highlights host physician rules and responsibilities. After submitting your enrolment, hosts are sent a coverage request form and invited to submit their desired days off for matching with locum physicians.

Transition: Timeline and Funding Approach

With Funding from our comprehensive, successful Urban Locum Program (ULP) Pilot ending on March 31, Locum Connect is the first interim step by the South Island and Victoria Divisions to maintain essential supports while exploring a potential new model.

Focusing on coverage under the LFP payment model, Locum Connect will run at least from April 1 to September 30, 2026. Its Steering Committee, with members from both Divisions, is exploring options to extend the service’s duration and scope. For more Locum Connect resources, please visit the Locum Connect resource page here.
